Pump on Test
This test helps distinguish between evaporation and actual leakage.
Preparation:
- Fill your pool to its normal level. Turn off any auto-fill devices, heaters, and water features.
- Use a straight-sided bucket. Apply masking tape vertically inside and outside the bucket to mark water levels.
Procedure:
- Fill the bucket with pool water a few cm from the top.
- Place it on a pool step, submerged about 20cm.
- Mark water levels inside and outside the bucket.
- Turn the pump on and leave it running for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, mark the new water levels on the inside and the outside of the bucket. Compare the water levels. If the pool water dropped more than the water in the bucket, you likely have a leak.
Note: If it rains, restart the test on a dry day.
Pump off test
Procedure:
- Turn off the pump.
- Mark the water level on the outside of the bucket (If you are conducting this Pump off test right after the earlier Pump on test, you can skip this step as this marking would already be there on the bucket).
- After 24 hours, mark the new water level on the outside of the bucket. Please show us all the markings on our visit.
Note: If it rains, restart the test on a dry day.
